Went to New York, roamed around Manhatten during the day and as evening approached I decided to go to New Jersey and see if I could get a clear unobstructed view of NYCity.

Drove down the NJ turnpike and stopped at a cafe near Secacaus and they told me to go to Hoboken, near Lincoln Tunnel and look for Frank Sinatra Drive.

Well I did and over a lookout, I stopped, got my camera and tripod and made this shot. You have to scroll to the right to see it all.

It's made of over 16 different frames stitched together. The stitched panaroma is equivalent to a 170 MP camera. Yes, a 170 MegaPixel camera, with a file the size of almost 2 Gigabytes. So for some of you familiiar with, shall we say, a 10 MP camera, think what this image can ultimately be blown up to.......

I had a lot of fun that day........

"Lone Tree"

Why did I record a thing seen into a “thing seen”.

Did I have an idea to record for a particular reason?

Was it just timing and circumstance...

Is it for achieving “art” ? the applause and recognition?

Is it for the audience?

or is it for just one person.

Perhaps it’s only for yourself.

The mission,  yes, to articulate a mission, however intangible the reason for the mission.

To create something, unaltered by one’s own emotions, to be clear and free of human bondage, of heartaches and chains of need.

To interpret and express, not just to portray ones own emotions but to reveal  a revelation…the essence of the subject matter........

"Evening"

I wish to render,  the greater mystery of things, to reveal and open,  more clearly than the passing eye…

To grasp the fleeting moment, anything that excites me, the commonplace, the unusual.

The composition….the rules….the formula….the arguments for successful image making, to create art?

or is it a need to express, that fleeting moment in time, as I enter by chance, that moment,  the art of seeing and freeing the emotion.

yes,  to render,   the vitality or the soft moment…and of quietness.

"Winter's Night NZ"

Driving through the high passes….nearing night time. The winds were blowing in incredible strength, moving the car around as I drove through the  Alpine mountains.

Looking through to the left, I saw the incredible display of clouds catching the last of the light from the setting sun.

I stopped on the shoulder, quickly set up my tripod and camera. Quickly working the equipment, exposure, composition before the light faded off the peaks of the mountains and the blowing snow across the fields.

New Zealand

July, 2008

This is Bill at Gunn's Camp where I almost ran out of gas, sweating bullets. 147 kilometers from the nearest town.

What a great guy! as well as his wife Helen.

I stayed overnight in their cabin.

One of the remotest areas of New Zealand.

" Road to Mountain of Light"

New Zealand

July, 2008

The night before the rains fell, as if the heavens needed a washing. The fog had settled in every knook and cranny, crevises……and the heavens  lowered to a dismal grey.

How I had  slept though! Going to bed at 9PM. My eyes strained from the reading perhaps, but a less obvious reason was the traveling in the last week. My fifth day in New Zealand as I recall now.

Many mornings I wonder what the world will present to me. More dismal weather, I am sure there would be no inspiration.

Alas, What a dawn!

I awake to a beautiful crisp morning, the clouds rolling in…like a Fresco.

The mountains barely seen before appear majestic and proud…..jutting into the sky and clouds.

I hit the road, energy flowing through my veins….on the path to….inspiration!

To such a city……..he flourished……….for he too lacked…..a heart……and allegiance….

"Girl in Window"

Perchance, through the forest
A path wanders the deer doth make
to a small cottage, at an angle
To a lonely lake

Sheltered amidst the grove
Like a place in my heart
I wonder who may abode
in Such a secluded Bard

The more the birds lark
To the lone window
Compelled, drawn forward
To peek, into the dark

With slow and quickened breath
approach the window sill here
A breeze sweeps the brow
My dreams suddenly clear

A fire’s dance and roar
In the corner fireplace
A man, a chair by the door
Sitting, with eyes a daze

So still, does he seem
As if in death, but a slight breath
On his lips, Do I deem
Waiting, waiting, for my steps

Effervescent as a  Moonbeam

We had a snow storm all day yesterday and into the night.

I woke up early this morning and drove north looking at the beautiful snow covering the landscape.

I stopped by an old farm and saw a possible image in my mind.

Set the tripod up and shot a panorama by taking 4 shots via panning between shots.

When I got home, I stitched the pictures together.

It’s now a huge image over 50MP, creating a 116 MB file.

Here’s the picture.

*************************************************************************************************************

I was out last night with a bunch of people up by the Amherst College Observatory to observe the Luner Eclipse.

The skies were clear and we had a great time to see the Moon being eclipsed by the Earth’s shadow from the sun.

We also had a chance to see Saturn and the Orion Nebula through my friend  Kevin’s homemade 20 inch Telescope.

Here’s Kevin and his pride and joy.

It stands 9ft tall and he made it all himself including grinding the 20inch mirror.

Quite an accomplishment!

And here’s my shot of the moon through my 1200mm Nikkor lens, just before the eclipse started.

"Adagio"

Do not stand by me and cry

My soul is not there

Forevermore to bear

Dark as the deepest midnight

I am as the morning light

Like the starry stars at night

Can I be as the morning’s rush

Calming as the zephyr’s hush

So still as a statue

As I  wait for you

Do not come by my side and cry

I am not here……I did not die……

"Ugolino"

At the base of the statue, this man stared at Count Ugolino for at least 10 minutes.

Count Ugolino, his sons and grandsons were imprisoned to die in the tower, by starvation for treason.

"On the Walk"

Went for a walk by the factories and canals.

The snow started to fall these huge beautiful snowflakes.......

"Once Upon a Time"

My heart, like red rust stain
Our day fades into night
Through lambent, red sunlight
Sweet water, my tears proclaim
From dawn, to noon, to wane........

Taken last year traveling through Arizona.

First time showing this particular image.........

Im standin at the crossroads
Tryin to read the signs
To tell me which way I should
Go to find the answer
And all the time I know
Plant your love and let it grow.

Let it grow, let it grow,
Let it blossom, let it flow.
In the sun, the rain, the snow
Love is lovely, let it grow.

Lookin for a reason
To check out on my mind.
Its so hard to find a
Friend that I can count on.
Theres nothin left to show,
Plant your love and let it grow.

Let it grow…

Time is gettin shorter
And theres much for you to do,
Only askn you will get what you are needin,
The rest is up to you.
Plant your love and let it grow.

Let it grow…

Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
And the dreams that you dreamed of
Once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow
Blue birds fly
And the dreams that you dreamed of
Dreams really do come true
Someday I'll wish upon a star
Wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where trouble melts like lemon drops
High above the chimney tops is where you'll find me
Somewhere over the rainbow bluebirds fly
And the dreams that you dare to, oh why, oh why can't I?
Well I see trees of green and Red roses too,
I'll watch then bloom for me and you
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
Well I see skies of blue and I see clouds of white
And the brightness of day
I like the dark and I think to myself
What a wonderful world
The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people passing by
I see friends shaking hands
Saying, "How do you do?"
They're really saying, I...I love you
I hear babies cry and I watch them grow,
They'll learn much more than
We'll know
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
Someday I'll wish upon a star,
Wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where trouble melts like lemon drops
High above the chimney tops is where you'll find me
Somewhere over the rainbow way up high
And the dreams that you dare to, ... why, oh why can't I

Love You Dupie
